Who We Are

The DFW Black Maternal and Breastfeeding Collective is a partnership of three Black women in birth work who came together with one shared purpose: to educate, empower, and uplift Black maternal health across the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, with breastfeeding at the heart of everything we do.

We are a midwife, an IBCLC, and a future midwife. On their own, each of us serves Black families in a different part of the journey. Together, we cover the full arc of that journey, from pregnancy and birth to feeding and beyond, and we show what real collaboration can look like when Black women in this work decide to build something bigger than any one practice. We are a catalyst, and our community is the reason.

Our Founders

The DFW Black Maternal and Breastfeeding Collective is dedicated to closing the gap in Black maternal health outcomes across the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. Through community-driven awareness, culturally grounded education, and unwavering support, we empower Black mothers and families to advocate for themselves, trust their bodies, and lead their own health journeys.

Our Mission

Our Vision

We are a DFW collective on a mission to transform the maternal health experience for Black families. By cultivating awareness, expanding access to education, and building networks of genuine support, we work to ensure that every Black mother in our community feels seen, equipped, and empowered to flourish before, during, and well beyond birth.

A continuum of support under one organization.

A midwife, an IBCLC, and a future midwife means families do not have to piece their support together alone. From birth planning to latch to long-term wellness, we connect the dots and connect families to one another.

Culturally grounded education.

We meet Black families where they are, with information that honors our history, our bodies, and our experiences. Education here is affirming, accessible, and built for us.

Events that bring us together.

Our signature gathering is the annual DFW edition of Black Breastfeeding Week, a celebration of Black mothers, families, and the providers who serve them. It is one of many programs we are building to keep this community informed, supported, and connected throughout the year.

Better outcomes for Black families.

Everything we do points toward one goal: improving Black maternal healthcare outcomes in DFW. Through education, advocacy, and genuine community, we are working to make sure more Black mothers and babies not only survive, but thrive.

Join us. Whether you are an expectant mother, a new parent, a fellow birth worker, or a neighbor who believes Black families deserve better, there is a place for you in this work.
