Awareness. Education. Support. For us, by us.

Why DFW BMBC Exists

69% of Black infants are ever breastfed

compared to 85% of White infants.

Research suggests that much of the gap in long-term breastfeeding stems from lower breastfeeding initiation rates, highlighting the importance of early support and education.

Black families consistently experience lower breastfeeding rates than White families across most U.S. states.

Lack of culturally concordant care, fewer Black lactation professionals, systemic barriers, and historical trauma are recognized contributors to breastfeeding disparities.
